Jack's career as an artist began in steel working, then teaching metal work at a Vancouver college where the freedom to create his own designs soon led him to start up Anvil Island Design. Bill Helin is an artist of Tsimshian Ancestry residing on Vancouver Island B.C. He worked on the Worlds Tallest Totem Pole erected in Beacon Hill Park in Victoria B.C. for the 1994 Commonwealth Games. It was made to symbolize the unity between all tribes and nations of the world!

Native Panel Pipe Design Pewter Inlaid Cribbage Board
The pewter inlay of this cribbage board is carved in the traditional panel pipe styling. It is based on the Northwest Coast natives' ceremonial panel pipe used in special events. If you look closely at the designs you can see many of the figures that are the cornerstone of Northwest coast artwork and culture. Pegs are inserted in the side of the board.
